Fishing

You'll find some of the best coarse fishing in the country on the River Welland and the River Glen.

The River Welland in south Lincolnshire is an interesting and historic waterway. It's a river of contrasts: shallow and swift flowing water between Stamford and Market Deeping whilst the lower reaches are wider with little flow in the summer.

Tips on where to fish

  • During early season look for tench & bream below the Deepings.
  • Spalding town centre is a popular roach fishery.
  • Target chub and dace between Stamford and Market Deeping.
  • Good trout fishing is available near Uffington.
